This is a moment of crisis,
A moment of pain
And opportunity.

The past is washed away
And I must begin anew.

Give me strength, Lord,
Both to go on
And to believe in a greater vision
For myself and my nation.

I must believe the lesson of Katrina
Is the need for all of us to pull together.

For to feel so abandoned and alone
Is not what You have in mind for me.

We are all in this life together, Lord.
We must work together to create
The world we want.

Cleanse my mind of resentment and fear.
Fill my mind, instead, with Your Voice and Your Power.

Set my heart on a course to make things better
For me, my family
And everyone in this world.

There is no "us" or "them," Lord.
Everything is between You and me.

And I tell You, it is time for a change.

It is time to set love and relationships
As our first priority
And set all bickering aside.

We are all one in You.
Somehow, I swear to You,
I—and we—will learn to live that way.

All brothers and sisters are my family.
Together we are powerful.
Together we rebuild a new South,
Together we rebuild a new America
Fashioned in the image of You.

We now learn through joy and love
As opposed to pain, suffering, punishment and guilt.

Use me as Your voice of change.
Use me as Your loving heart.
Use me as Your hand that rebuilds.

My neighborhood, my life and my nation
Will never be the same.

I swear to you on my life,
They will be better.
