Prayer Video “You Work Through Me”

This video clip was recorded in August of 2009 – last year – but since I couldn’t get my video editing software to recognize and accept it, it sat. [Read more →]

Change Your Life

Here’s my cobbled-together welcome video for the Prayerforce YouTube channel. I also write further down in this post about how and why to use affirmative prayer or spiritual affirmations to change your life for the better.

I wrote about my technical frustrations in my last post and how frustrations are a key to spiritual healing. You can see the object of my frustration – the failed video – at the very end of this blog post.  (Hint: it requires that you read lips really well.)

If you are hearing impaired, or just want to read what I said, I have created a rough transcript below. It’s pretty much what I say in the video, although please do not hold me to being exact in my transcription. I haven’t gone over it, word by word.   ;-)

Frustration: A Key To Spiritual Growth And Development

Affirmative prayer has worked miracles in my life and it has been my intention to provide more of an “inside” look at my spiritual practice and how I use prayer.

So I thought I might do more of a video blog in which I spontaneously talk about daily challenges and how I am using affirmative prayer, meditation and other spiritual tools to transform and overcome them.

Well, with that choice, challenges have arrived right and left! And that is just how things work when we have buried fears about not being good enough. Obviously I am still questioning what right I have to share anything, because technical difficulties are getting in the way.

So here’s a lesson about spiritual growth and development, and about expanding into being your best self – the self willing to share your big God-given gifts. It’s based upon my own daily challenges, and I’ll have to do it in writing. [Read more →]

Buy Yourself Out Of Hell: Indulgences Reinstated

Ironically, sin has served organized religion very well over the centuries in terms of  finances. Since one could not give money to God directly, one gave to the church.

From the itinerant Bible-thumping preacher to the centuries-old Catholic church, traditional purveyors of religion encourage us to embrace the idea that all will be well if we  will just put enough money in the collection plate.

Humorously, it is not uncommon to be read scripture that calls upon us to to reject materialism, and then have it inferred that the best place for disposal of our material wealth is the church. The unspoken message that we often receive is that forgiveness for our sinfulness – and a place in heaven – can be secured in exchange for money.

To this end the “indulgence” – a method of allegedly buying God’s grace and forgiveness by paying the Catholic church – was a very popular alternative to  an individual self-improvement program until it ended in 1857 when the sale of indulgences was banned by the Catholic church.

Now, unbelievably, the indulgence has been reinstated. From The New York Times: [Read more →]

7 Keys To Effective Prayer

How can we pray more effectively?

How can we send the most beautiful, loving thoughts into the Mind Of The Infinite so that the Divine Mind of God can manifest magnificent results?

Here are 7 keys to effective prayer.

1)  Accept these premises:

  • God is a tremendous, loving, aware energy.
  • You are God energy. You are “the Word” – vibration – made manifest.
  • God sees you as perfect and never judges you in any way.
  • God wants you to be happy.
  • God hears you 24/7; you are praying with every thought and every breath.
  • Your thoughts, feelings and intentions comprise an energy field.

If you have reason to believe your thoughts, emotions, words and energy field are   negative and attracting negativity to you, then ask God to dissolve the effects of your negativity at the beginning of your prayer.

“Dear God, you have the power to dissolve and transmute every negative energy that exists. Please undo any negativity that I have created. Dissolve it so it is not a factor that affects or harms me or anyone else in any way. Thank You.”

Take responsibility for the outcome ahead of time since the energetic vibration you hold as you pray (via your thoughts, emotions and mind images) will determine what “answer” you receive to your prayer. Affirm that you want to be healed of any need to suffer.

“Lord, if I am doing or thinking or saying anything that could cause harm to others or myself, please neutralize the effect of any negativity. Flood this prayer with Your love. Fill it with the energy of joy, forgiveness, and love. I release all need to suffer and ask that my friends and family forgo the need to suffer at the hands of this storm.”

2) Be very specific in telling God what you want and describe it with heartfelt emotion:

“I am so truly, truly grateful, God, that the storm has weakened, the sun is shining and everyone is safe and happy.”

3) Be generous in prayers. Do not just think of yourself:

“Thank You for protecting us and keeping us safe. I am so grateful to have my home and family safe and sound. I am so grateful that you are taking care of and protecting the people in the next town. Lord, use the energy of my soul as you will to protect them and keep them safe.”

Visualize what you want by imagining the final outcome. In the case of a storm, imagine you and your family hugging, with the storm passed, everyone safe, and your home in tact.

4) Always use the present tense:

“I am one with You.”

“I am healed.”

“My wife is healed. I see her walking out of the hospital. She is smiling.”

“I have a great job.”

5) Express gratitude that what you want is already yours:

“Thank You that Your loving energy now surrounds and protects our home.”

“Thank You, God, that I am one with You. Thank You that I am healed. Thank You that I am whole. I am so grateful to be so happy.”

6) State what you desire in the most positive terms possible:

Say “the storm dissolves into the nothingness from which it came,” and not “the storm doesn’t hit us, but crosses into the next town and hits there.”

Be especially careful in speaking contractions like “doesn’t” because the subconscious mind only hears the “does” and not the abbreviated “not.” This means that a prayer that says: “The storm doesn’t hit us” is heard as “The storm does hit us” and is sent out as the exact opposite to what is wanted.

7) Repeat with feeling:

“Vain repetition” of prayer is mentioned in the Bible as being ignored by God or ineffective.

This is because repetition without feeling, while better than nothing, is not very effective. Your emotions need to be engaged. The Universe matches our emotions with experiences that will bring more of the emotions we have been experiencing.

So do not expect one three-minute prayer to permanently and profoundly transform a lifetime of misery.

Instead use heartfelt prayer throughout the day. Fill your mind with as many positive thoughts, prayers, and expressions of gratitude as possible. Fill your heart with as much positive emotion as possible.

Finally, make an affirmative prayer practice your lifetime habit.

Do not give up. Your answer may be just around the corner.

Pray and give thanks for what you desire until it is received. It may take a day or it may take a year. You are creating a new energy field with every prayer, an energy field that will allow and accept the healing and blessings that you are requesting.

Do not be afraid to reword your prayer requests.  You do not want your prayer practice to become stale or boring because you are in this for as long as it takes for your healing, your dream – whatever it is that you are requesting – to come to pass.

What This All Means To Us Now

It is becoming impossible to ignore the evidence that points to our core as the loving energy of God.

We are fast perceiving that God and love are not something apart from us, but that we are God manifesting itself and we are love. This means that achieving world peace and a just society are not wishful pipe dreams, but real possibilities.

It is only when our energy is blocked, distorted, filtered or fragmented that the love within us cannot shine through.

So as more and more of us use energy work, affirmative prayer, spiritual practice, and sacred service to dissolve these eons-old false beliefs we will, as individuals and as a species, be able to fully express our true identity.

As we rise in vibration and intention the old prayers and beliefs will fall away quite naturally.

People will be drawn to what helps them become more loving, and will be repelled by ideas or practices that set them against each other or God.

Arguments over religious ideas will begin to feel pointless as people experience more of God’s love.

So a grand age is in progress.

Yes, we have turmoil. There is always turmoil during periods of great change. Bless the turmoil and give thanks that it is resolving.

Knolw that God’s love is steady and forever. And as your energy is cleansed and unblocked, you will feel yourself returning home, into that love which is your true identity and the fountain of all happiness.

Congratulations.
