A Glorious Day, A Walk, And A Few Thoughts
![]() |
This post is about taking a simple walk, and then finding myself suddenly filled with immense appreciation and gratitude for life.
Today was a true “Sun” day - a sunny, beautiful day with a Spring wind that may or may not have been too stiff to fly a kite.
Most people wore long pants and jackets, yet when I decided to head downtown late this afternoon for a walk and a cup of coffee, I rolled up the sleeves of my yellow shirt to my elbows, took off my socks and slipped on the sunflower-yellow sandals I love.
I wanted to feel the sun on my arms and feet.
Although my body temperature usually runs cold, and I’m the first one to grab a jacket, there was something so invigorating about the day that I didn’t mind a little chill on my arms. And my feet, oddly enough, felt warm. Maybe it was because, full of energy, I was walking briskly.
In any event, I enjoyed the walk, enjoyed the coffee as Iooked out through the coffee shop window at the downtown Sunday crowd and, after I finished my coffee, I was content to head home.
Then on the way back it hit me - that it is such a privilege to walk on the earth, and to feel the sun.
