Recipe For A Happier Body

Every Day:1)  Drink 2 glasses of water first thing.
2)  Stretch for 5 or 10 minutes.
3)  Read something inspirational.
4)  Eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
5)  Take a 15 to 30-minute walk.
6)  Focus on what’s going right.
7)  If you need a break, take one.
8)  Be kind to everyone in your mind.
9)  Turn off the TV; go to bed early.
Take time out for fun, smile and be:

If you are used to heading to your computer to check your e-mail the moment you get out of bed, you will have your work cut out for you in terms of changing your habits. I know I have had to take myself by the scruff of the neck and establish a more healthy and balanced routine.

I get so involved in my projects, waking up with ideas that I want to work on, that I have to stop myself from going to the computer first thing.

My drill these days is to drink two glasses of water, then make fresh carrot-apple juice and drink it while either reading inspirational material or watching an uplifting video. I also read my own daily prayers. (I admit I love them.)

Then I’ll have a protein shake made with soy milk and fruit. I won’t bore you with any more details about my routine except to say I am getting better at taking walks and going on bike rides, and yes, je bois beaucoup de cafe. (Coffee is something I do enjoy, but try to have later in the morning. )

Of course, I don’t always stick with my “healthy routine” yet, when I do, I feel great all day.

So drink your two glasses of water as soon as you get up in the morning, because that’s really important. It helps your body jettison toxins. Do some stretches. Then have fruit or vegetables plus protein for breakfast so your body has the building blocks it needs for the day. Get that inspirational experience in next so you start the day happy and feeling optimistic. And do whatever you can to shift your diet to plants.

More and more doctors – and weight trainers – are saying that three-quarters of what we eat in a day should be plants: colorful fruits and vegetables and whole grains like brown rice, kamut kernals, wheat kernals, etc.

We also need at least thirty minutes of walking or other exercise every day.

Okay, you know all that. I’m telling you nothing new. Still, if you’re like me, it’s way too easy to ignore the body (even when it’s complaining) and live in a too-busy head. So let’s make a pact. I’ll be kinder to my body, and you be kinder to yours.
